Usability

Create Killer Apps All The Time

Using design to get results.

When it comes to creating websites and applications, there is one thing that separates the average from the great and those that fail from those that succeed. It is usability. Usability is a term used to refer to how elegant and clear the user interaction is designed. Most designs struggle to look good let alone usable. But in high-level design, looking good is a given and it becomes more about usability.

One of the biggest factors in determining whether a product will succeed is whether it is usable or not. If it isn't, then users will find the interface confusing and unclear, causing them to give up on the product early. But if it is usable, then users will enjoy using it because there are none of these frustrations and confusions they experience with unusable products. This lengthens their experience and makes the product more sticky, a key feature of any successful product.

You could be losing sales because of your website's design.

Consider the following example: Which keyboard would you use?

Usability Example

Would you use the one that is like a brick with awkwardly placed keys and hurts your wrist after a short while or the one that your hands feel comfortable and the keys feel natural? Clearly the latter. The first keyboard, while easier to make because of its basic shape, is harder for people to use. The second, while harder to make because its more sophisticated design, is easier to people to use.

There is a trade off between making a product easier for you to make or easier for your users to use. If you put them first, you will have a killer product every time. But it isn't easy to create products with great usability if you haven't had experience creating usable products.

Let us show you how to create your next killer app today.
